What information we collect, and how we use it
When you sign up to volunteer, we ask for your contact information as well as information about what types of tasks you are interested in or available to do. We use this information to determine the level of possible volunteer support in your area and contact possible volunteers to support the campaign.
When you sign up for our email list, we ask for your last name (optional), email address and zip code. This information is used to send you email updates about the campaign, including information specifically geared to the area where you live.
When you contribute money online, we collect information possibly needed to comply with federal law, as well as information needed to verify your credit card transaction. We will be required to report to the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of individuals who contribute more than $200. This information is also required for contributions submitted for matching funds. You can find out more about how this information is used by visiting the FEC website. Your credit card number and other information will be provided to the financial institution handling the transaction. Online contributions are processed by PaySimple.
If you contribute by mail, by phone, or online, we may use the information you provided to contact you about future activities or solicit further contributions.
Information you provide via this website may be made available to Nader for President 2008 staff members, including state coordinators and other staff working outside of our central office. Any information you give us may be shared with our successor organizations, if any.
Your contact information may be shared with other organizations. If you do not want your contact information to be shared, you may opt out by emailing us at privacy@votenader.org.
Our website features an “email this page” function which allows you to send content from our website to another person via email. Email addresses entered in this manner are not stored.
Visits to this website are logged. This information is used to track how many people visit the site or sections of the site using the Google analytics service. Google’s privacy policy may be found here.
We do not ask for or knowingly collect information from children 13 and under.
We sometimes obtain email and postal mail lists from other organizations. If your name is on one of these lists, you may receive communication from us regardless of whether you have already provided this information to us.
How we keep your information secure
Our website has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of the information under our control. Our server is located in a locked, secure environment.
How to unsubscribe, correct your contact information, or opt out
If you are on our email list, you can change your email address or other information by clicking on the link to modify your profile which is at the bottom of each email that you receive from us. Alternately, you can send an e-mail to privacy@votenader.org.
If you subscribe to our email list, you may unsubscribe by clicking an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email. If you have problems with this, you can contact us at privacy@votenader.org to be removed.
Any such requests received by email will be processed within 7 days.
If you do not want to have your contact information shared with like-minded organizations, please email us at privacy@votenader.org.
Records of contributors will be maintained as required by law.

What you can do to protect your privacy
While we do everything we can to protect your privacy, it is also necessary that you do your part to protect your personal information. You can help avoid fraud and identity theft by exercising caution when disclosing information online.
